Look at it this way. If your family (think Abraham and Isaac) puts God first, you are blessed above all. If your family is saved...heaven with a martyrs crown is better. If they are not saved...a short life = less sin = less suffering in hell forever. Real guys turn the other cheek and face death accordingly.

Wow! This sounds like Islam, using women and children as human shields and justifying it with afterlife promises. This is not Christianity, my friend.

Show me where Jesus doesn't require this?

The irony of that statement. "Show me where X doesn't exist!"

Dave, why would you think Christ would want his own to be slaughtered? To keep them from getting old?

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

It's an attitude of the heart. To love Christ more than life or more than your family...like Abraham did when put to the test.

Except God is not asking us nor is it commanded to fail to protect your family from someone who wants to harm them. Such is heresy

Do you love Jesus more than your ow life? Or more than your family? That you would accept death rather than kill the enemy you are told to love?

No, he clearly tells us to take the cross and put the sword away.

When did Jesus tell you to take the sword and not the cross?

Your question is absurd and it assumes you are correct. Since I reject your premise........as heresy

Umm you have not put up any scripture proving your point. You misuse scripture and misapply it. However, you need to go back and look at my posts. I have already addressed this.

Surely you have been told by Jesus to put up the sword and take the cross. It is basic Christianity.

Well hey! The best way to hang on to your failed position is the keep repeating a mantra! Hindu's do it so why not you.

We are not Abraham, we are not the father of a nation. Rather we are all flawed humans in need of Grace. What’s more He doesn’t / can’t expect Abraham. You are setting up false synarios

See this is a prime example of how you misuse scripture. You cannot just take two disjointed passages and create your own doctrine out of them. And apparently you do not know the context or you would not use them. You need to be taught how to study and use scripture.

None of those passages addresses protecting your family. In fact it is not even in view in those passages. Jesus needed no defense as He came to go to the cross. Defending him only worked against that. That was the point. Not leaving your family to suffer needlessly at the hands of someone dangerous. Your position is heresy
