    Psalms 119:139-141,

“My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.

"Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

"I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.”

    Borrowed and adapted from:
Why I Know The King James Bible Is God's Inspired Word

"In the Old Testament in 1st Kings 3:16-28, we read an intriguing true story of two women, who were harlots...The Bible says one woman gave birth to a child, and then three days later the other woman also gave birth.

The latter woman while sleeping suffocated her baby by accident. So she stole the other woman's baby and claimed it was hers.

As you can imagine, it became a heated situation between two mothers!

The case was brought before King Solomon, to judge who was the real mother.

Solomon had God's wisdom and did something amazing to determine who the real mother was.

He asked for a sword, so he could divide the baby in half, to give each woman a portion.

Now Solomon wasn't really going to do it, he had a plan, and it worked exactly as he knew it would.

    1st Kings 3:24-26,

“And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

"Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it.

"But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.”

We have here a profound Bible passage, as it applies and is a poignant reminder of the Textus Receptus vs Codex Sinaiticus (א) and Codex Vaticanus (B), Bible debate today!

The Textus Receptus King James Bible crowd cry out: "Don't cut the baby" or the Bible up (DCTB).

But the Codex Sinaiticus (א) and Codex Vaticanus (B) Modern Versions crowd say: “Yes, cut the baby (CTB) and the Bible into pieces all you want.

"Just as Solomon exercised great wisdom in determining the real mother, by identifying who loved the child enough not to divide it; so also can people today know which Bible is truer to the Original Autographs, by those Christians who don't want to see everything we know about the preservation of God's Word cut into pieces!"

    From: Jot And Title Inspiration

(That author calls it, 'jot and tittle' inspiration, however, for a translation to have derived inerrancy/ to the highest extent we are able attain by comparing texts from the original lanuages is different that what that is saying or means.)

A Bible's Authority is as good as it's Integrity.

We've had one going on 400 years with a LOT of integrity.

Some examples of the importance of using a reliable text and a sound translation approach are here:

    Don't cut the baby!

      • In Matthew 22:44 Christ's masterful argument is based on the fact that David said, 'MY Lord.' This observation prepared the way for the unanswered question, "How can David's Son be David's Lord? [This perplexing question finds its answer in Romans 1:3-4]. It is interesting to note that the word 'MY' in Psalm 110:1 is not a separate word in the Hebrew. It is simply a 'jot' added to the end of the word 'Lord' as a suffix. Thus we see that one little 'jot' is very important. Our Lord's argument hinged on it.
      • In Galatians 3:16 Paul's argument rests upon the difference between singular and plural. The one letter 's' is very important!
      • How did the writer of Hebrews know that Abraham believed that God would raise Isaac from the dead (Hebrews 11:17-19)? The Key is found in Genesis 22:5 where Abraham said, 'WE will come again to you' (or to paraphrase: 'even though I am going to sacrifice Isaac, we both will return alive'). The difference between 'we will come' and 'I will come' (which would have suggested that Abraham would return alone) in Hebrew is one letter.
      • In Matthew 22:32 our Lord's argument rests on the fact that God said, 'I am the God of Abraham' and not 'I was the God of Abraham' (cf. Exodus 3:6). Here the overall context of the passage and even the TENSE OF THE VERB is highly significant in our Lord's skillful argument."
Some examples of the importance of not using an unreliable text and an unsound translation approach are here:

From: 448 Reasons We Cannot Trust Any Modern Bible Version!

These are 448 egregious omissions in the modern versions.

Did they/ do they have it out for The Lord?

They remove the Trinity in I John 5:7, the only three occurances of the "GODHEAD", the Name Jesus Christ, over and over, 'Lord', 'God', 'the blood', that Jesus was 'the only begotten son', etc., etc.

    What could go wrong?

What will they delete next time?

We better be glad we even have a copy of God's Word!

Many insist that Modern Versions be addressed as, "The Word of God".

Well, the Modern Versions certainly don't have much to say for God Almighty.

    See for yourself.

See if they haven't cut the baby to shreds.

    And, see when reading this list, if it doesn't sound to you, just like "reading the Bible";

First, do you know the difference between autographs and the text from the autographs?

There are OT issues and NT issues.

    • autographs = signatures from famous people
    • text from the autographs = the words that appeared in the now lost original manuscripts from which all extant copies of biblical books are derived [in this context].

Seems like "her" purification makes more clear what is going on
than "their" purification and makes sure not to mix Jesus in there, as if He needed purification.

    While, Cambridge has this:

Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges

22–24. The Presentation in the Temple

"22. her purification] Rather, their purification. The reading αὐτῆς, ‘her’, of the Received Text is almost unsupported. All the Uncials read αὐτῶν, ‘their,’ except D, which probably by an oversight reads αὐτοῦ, ‘His.’ Strictly speaking, the child was never purified, but only the mother. The purification took place on the fortieth day after the Nativity, and till then a mother was not permitted to leave her house. The feast of the Presentation was known in the Eastern Church as the Hypapantê.

"according to the law of Moses] See this Law in Leviticus 12:2-4. Jesus was “made of a woman, made under the Law, to redeem those that were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption of sons,” Galatians 4:4-5."

    KJV Comparison Page has this:

    Luke 2:22
    (KJV) And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

(1611 KJV) And when the dayes of her purification according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they brought him to Hierusalem, to present him to the Lord,

(1568 Bishops Bible) And when the dayes of her purification, after the lawe of Moyses, were accomplished, they brought hym to Hierusalem, to present him to the Lord.

(1560 Geneva Bible) And when the daies of her purification after the Lawe of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Hierusalem, to present him to the Lord,

    Counterfeit Versions
(CSB) And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were finished, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord

(NIV) When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord

(NASB) And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord

(HCSB) And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were finished, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord

(ESV) And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord

(1901 ASV) And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord

(RSV) And when the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord

(NAB-Roman Catholic) When the day came to purify them according to the law of Moses, the couple brought him up tot Jerusalem so that he could be presented to the Lord

(NWT-Jehovah’s Witness) Also, when the days for purifying them according to the law of Moses came to the full, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to Jehovah

    Textus Receptus

    Affected Teaching

"This is one of the most subtle changes in the New Testament. This change actually attacks the sinless nature of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you will notice all the modern versions state that the days had come to purify them after the birth of Jesus. The modern versions have changed “her” to “them” which does not fit the biblical pattern of the Old Testament.

"(Lev 12:6-8 KJV) And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: {7} Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female. {8} And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

"According to the Law of Moses, when a woman gives birth to a male she had a time for purifying of 41 days. She had him circumcised on the eighth day and then was to continue her purification for another thirty three days. (Lev 12:4 KJV) And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled. If you will notice in these Levitical Scriptures, there is nothing stated concerning an offering for both child and mother. The sin offering and burnt offering were specifically for the mother, not mother and child.

"By the modern versions changing “her” to “them or their,” they are teaching that Christ was born with a sin nature. I have looked at some commentaries concerning Luke 2:22 and I was appalled at what some of them accept. Some claim that the word “their” is fine since Christ was to bear the sins of His people. It is true, that He was to bear the sins of His people, but not at that time. He began his suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and when He was on the cross, he bore the full brunt of God’s justice in fulfilling the requirements of God’s holy law. There is no way that Christ was born with sin for then He could not have been the sinless Savior but would have been just another human being born in the lineage of Adamic sin. Christ was the second Adam and that is what set Him apart from the sinful human race.

"Christ did not need to have a sin offering for Him at birth because He was born sinless. Do you see how subtle this major attack on the sinless nature of the Lord Jesus Christ is written in the text? If you were not looking for it, you would glean right over it. Leviticus refutes the teaching in the modern versions that Christ needed to have an atonement made for Him. The Bible teaches in 1 Corinthians 2:13 that we are to compare Scripture with Scripture. (1 Cor 2:13 KJV) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. The Scripture does not compare in the modern versions either. Let us look at Leviticus 12:6-8 in the NIV.

    "(NIV) Leviticus 12:6-8
{6}" 'When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. {7} He shall offer them before the LORD to make atonement for her, and then she will be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood. " 'These are the regulations for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. {8} If she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.' "

"(Luke 2:22 NIV) When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord

"So if you compare Scripture with Scripture in the NIV, you will see there is no harmony between the scriptures of Leviticus and that of Luke 2:22. This shows a very serious deficiency in the accuracy of the NIV, and this is only one example from this hideous book.

"In the Greek Textus Receptus which underlies the King James Bible the word is “s” (autes) which is strictly in the feminine gender but it was changed in the Hort Westcott text to “autwn” (auton) which can be used as a masculine, feminine, or neuter. “Autes” is singular while “auton” is plural. It is plural because it ends in omega nu (wn). So we see it was changed from feminine singular to the plural to make the case of the Gnostics that Jesus was not born sinless but became the Christ at His baptism.

"This attack on the Lord Jesus Christ finds agreement in the Roman Catholic and Jehovah’s Witness Bible. If you use a modern version, you are in bad company. (2 Cor 6:14 KJV) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? If you use a modern version, you are unequally yoked with unbelievers by means of their translations which means you are in violation of the Scriptures! It is a shame that the majority of Christians will research a mutual fund they want to invest in, check out the history of a car they want to buy, research a neighborhood to live in, but when it comes to God’s Word, they couldn’t care less what they use. This is a sorry indictment upon these Christians and then they ask why God won’t bless them. Think about it!"

FYI, Dr. Pickering's translation note, "The Text has ‘their’, not ‘her’; since a woman was not to have intercourse for forty days after giving birth to a boy (80 for a girl), Leviticus 12:2-5, her purification obviously affected her husband as well."

και οτε επλησθησαν αι ημεραι του καθαρισμου αυτης κατα τον νομον μωσεως ανηγαγον αυτον εις ιεροσολυμα παραστησαι τω κυριω

where that is translated "her" often, of course.
    Matthew 1:19 PPro-GF3S
GRK: ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς δίκαιος ὢν
KJV: Then Joseph her husband, being
INT: the husband of her righteous being

    Matthew 2:18 PPro-GF3S
GRK: τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς καὶ οὐκ
KJV: Rachel weeping [for] her children, and
INT: the children of her and not

    Matthew 2:18 PPro-GF3S
GRK: τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς καὶ οὐκ
KJV: Rachel weeping [for] her children, and
INT: the children of her and not

    Matthew 8:15 PPro-GF3S
GRK: τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ ἀφῆκεν
KJV: And he touched her hand, and
INT: the hand of her and left

    Matthew 9:25 PPro-GF3S
GRK: τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ ἠγέρθη
KJV: and took her by the hand,
INT: the hand of her and arose

Then, there is the idea of αυτων being a form of αὑτοῦ and how the translators of the KJV, 1568 Bishops Bible, and 1560 Geneva Bible could find their way to go with, "her", in Synonym Translation*.

So, did the KJV translator have αὐτῆς that they went by from an original language manuscript or did they take contextual latitude with a synonym, from the primitive root? Dunno.

    WE HAVE an ANSWER:

    * Synonym translating: Synonyms chosen to translate an original-language word accurately and faithfully can be considered without translational error, but not so perfect that another word might not possibly be used (see equivalence** above).

One must be careful, however, with synonymous translating, which may or may not be accurate, because all synonyms do not carry the same “signification” or meaning. A translator could be guilty of semantics.[ii]

The King James Bible translators were superior skilled linguists, but they expressed the possibility that another word with the same “sense” (e.g. a synonym) might be possible to use in translating an inspired Word and even included some of them in the margin of the KJB.[iii]

In an accurate, faithful translation in any language, a synonym substitution or change could possibly be found to be better in future revisions. This is the reason for some revisions. This author does not know of ANY translation that has not undergone either a revision or another edition.[iv]

I am a hack at Greek grammar, but I understand the terms used to describe English grammar (I know what “possessive” and “pronoun”, etc. mean).

The Interlinear for the TR for Luke 2:22 lists [G846] in that verse as …

    • Personal / Possessive Pronoun - Genitive Plural Masculine

That makes “them/they” the more literal English equivalent. “She/her” is neither PLURAL nor MASCULINE. (Dr. Pickering‘s explanation makes sense of it since Mary was obviously not masculine and Jesus didn’t need purification.)

Do you have a copy of the actual text prepared by the KJV translators for the printer so that it can be determined with absolute certainty whether any changes were made to it whether unintentionally or intentionally? Do you know what changes may have been introduced by Bishop Thomas Bilson who was not a KJV translator? Do you know what changes may have been introduced by the printer?

Do you assume by use of the fallacy of begging the question that the 1611 edition represents perfectly the text prepared by the KJV translators themselves?

    If that Interlinear is correct, then we have;
