What does scripture teach about interacting with those whose minds are closed, such as KJVO folks or Calvinist folks? Should be not be ready to offer a defense, should we not be intolerant of false teachings?

When a JW came to my door, I asked who is the "Spirit of Christ?" They left. They were not reached or even caused to reconsider their view, they simply went off seeking the "canned" answer to my question.

KJVOnlyism, the issue here is how best to help them. Not JWs, not Calvinism.

Please address what I said about KJVO folks.

Best way is to ask for SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT from the KJV for the KJVO myth, reminding them that no doctrine of faith/worship is true without Scriptural support. I've never seen one give a legitimate answer for that one.

Remember, it's almost alwaqys a KJVO who starts a KJVO argument with some silly statement or an ad-hominem attack on someone else who uses other versions.Another way to deal with them is ask them where their authority to be KJVO came from.

I just ask them, why if the KJV is the most accurate translation did it have to be corrected a number of times and further which version is the best one 1611,1629, 1638, 1762, or 1769.

    He is problematic,

    2. Don't Talk about Text Criticism,
    . I agree.
    3. Talk about English Only.
    Here he attacks the KJV.
I see him here as part of the problem. Not that it is not issue that needs to be dealt with.

How is he attacking the KJV, "Elizabethan English is no longer fully intelligible". He was being factual. The English language has changed, words have dropped out of use or the meanings have changed.

We have a hard enough time getting young people or people in general to read the bible so please explain to me why we should add another hurdle for them to jump over.

Another way I combat KJVOs is to show proof there IS a KJVO myth and ask them to prove there isn't any.

I am curious as to why those that use the KJV do not use any of the modern English versions of the KJV? Like the American ,or the 2000 or the updated. Why stick to something that uses out of date language?

Well there are resourses for using the KJV. One is to use the NKJV.

Back many years ago (circa 2000) The AWANA started to print books using the NJKV - while retaining books with the KVJ - Several churches dropped the program - because AWANA provided the NKJ - even though they could still use the KJV.

I'm strict KJV... Now the best way to deal with us, is leave us alone... Those who have been on here a length of time know the only thing I quote is KJV... You don't want to read mine and I don't want to read yours... I've been reading and studying the KJV since the age of thirteen I am now seventy seven... Do the math!... I don't carry the handle Tyndale for nothing and I use the KJV... Not the NKJV and I know the history and the linage of it... My KJV is still in English the last time I looked... How long have you been trying to drag this dead horse to finish line?... To Van I have a preacher friend of mine who has been preaching for over sixty years, who went to be with the Lord last year who sent out challenges every year with other preachers who are strict KJV to defend your translations, against the KJV... No response year after year... If your translations are so great, why don't you defend them?... In my many years here I rarely come here and do I need to defend the KJV?... The KJV defends itself!... I'm not going to change your mind and you are not going to change mine... So lets leave it at that!... I don't need to read other translations, its already taken me a lifetime to read and study my KJV... Brother Glen:)

Would you consider reading William Tyndale's translations? Miles Coverdales? Geneva Bibles? Douay Rheims? Well, you do every day, because these Bibles and more make up the KJV. Of course you probably already know that. But I thought it may benefit some anyway.

Rather touchy there @tyndale1946. I asked a simple question and you blow a gasket. The KJV is archaic language as you well know. That you use it is your choice but to ask new believers to struggle with something written in the 16 or 17 hundreds is foolish. There are clearer translations available so why should they not use them.

As to your question to @Van we do not have to defend whatever translation we use as we do not have NKJV or NASB , etc onlyism . We do not try to place any translation as the exclusive inspired word of God as many of the KJV onlyism ones do.

By the way I though we were to defend the word of God not a translation.

So in other words not the KJV. You just agreed with what I had posted.
