Many unproven theories have been advanced by secular scientists to explain the origin of our universe, and yet those same scientists sometimes have to ignore well established facts of physics in pursuit of the unknown. Why, for example, do they ignore the laws of gas dynamics in order to explain star formation? If gas particles in a vacuum repel one another, seeking equilibrium, how can you ever get a self-gravitational body of hydrogen with the mass and density necessary to start and maintain nuclear reactions? According to evolutionists, the first generation of stars had to be non-metallic because the Big Bang could not account for any elements heavier than lithium. So far as I know no such stars have ever been detected. If they have all died out without leaving a trace, how do we know that they ever really existed?

Martin Harwit, an American astronomer and for eight years the director of the National Air and Space Museum, once said, "The silent embarrassment of modern astrophysics is that we do not know how even a single one of these stars managed to form". It has been said that gas particles in a vacuum repel each other with a force 100 times greater than the mutual gravitational attraction. And even if the supernova explosion of a star could condense a cloud of hydrogen gas into a self-gravitational body - which is highly doubtful since an expanding shell from a supernova would be more likely to scatter gas clouds than compress them, you still have to explain where the first star came from. Thoughts?

God spoke the universe into being - the stars and all else in it. Genesis 1

Also, there is Hebrews 11:3 = "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so what is seen was not made out of what was visible."

It's not rocket science. It's faith.

Phillip: Amen. I could not agree more. Ironically, I have known a man for about 50 years who is a believer and a rocket scientist (literally!!) but when I try to talk to him about Creationism he will not speak to me. I don't question his faith in Christ, but I don't understand how you can believe the resurrection, but not the Creation. It takes no more faith to believe one than the other. Thanks for your comments.

So, first generation stars cannot be accounted for by the Big Bang Theory, but what about other concepts? The Steady State Theory seems to have fallen out of favor, since no one can demonstrate that mass/energy can be lost and somehow miraculously be replicated somewhere else. And the claim that matter and energy is eternal has no basis in empirical science, and flies in the face of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. No evidence exists that the universe is cyclical or that there are multiple universes. The idea that the universe began because of a fluctuation in a quantum vacuum doesn't explain where the energy came from that created the matter.

Since there is no scientific explanation for the origin of the universe that makes any sense, is it irrational to believe in a supernatural Creator, or is that the only rational position to take. Actually, there is no more reasonable position, either scientifically or spiritually. "In the beginning God..."

The universe is a mathematical concept created as literal in the minds of humans.

At least until they hit a road block that renders what they know about the universe useless. Even a photograph is still a photograph. We can imagine what is declared in this photo as anything.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Phillip: You've probably heard the joke about the scientist, arrogant about his great scientific knowledge, who challenged God to a "man-making" contest. He reached down and scooped up a handful of dirt to prove he could create life, when God interrupted and said "Go get your own dirt"! Scientists are not unbiased observers, and sometimes let their opinions become facts. If scientific consensus established truth the Earth would be flat and the Sun would revolve around it. The truth is what it is, whether we like it or not. And Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life". When science contradicts the clear teaching of the Word of God, science is wrong!

This is the level below heaven and this level is flat and the sun revolves above it.

Meditate on the abundant proof of how the universe came into existence & continues to exist. Let the truth of the Scriptures fill your heart with faith & praise to the faithful Creator, to Whom we trust our souls.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens & the earth. And the earth was formless & unfilled & darkness covered the abyss & the Spirit fluttered over the waters.

Keil & Delitzch: "And the earth was (not became) waste & void." The alliterative nouns tohu vabohu, signify waste & empty (barren), but not laying waste & desolating. Whenever they are used together in other places (Isa 34:11; Jer 4:23), they are taken from this passage; but tohu alone is frequently employed as synonymous with איך, non-existence, and הבל, nothingness (Isa 40:17, 40:23; 49:4). The coming earth was...a formless, lifeless mass."

Isa 45:18 For thus says YHWH, who created the heavens (He is God!), who formed the earth & made it (He established it; He did not create it empty, but He formed it to be inhabited!): “I am YHWH & there is no other.

Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made & by the Spirit of His mouth all their host.

Job 26:13 By His Spirit He beautified the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.

Psalm 104:30 You send forth Your Spirit, they are created & You renew the face of the earth.

Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me & the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD will take His sharp, great & mighty sword & bring judgment on Leviathan the fleeing serpent--Leviathan the coiling serpent--and He will slay the dragon of the sea.

John 1:3 All things were made through Him & without Him was not any thing made that was made.

Job 9:8 He alone stretches out the heavens & walks on the waves of the sea.

Heb 1:1,2 Long ago, at many times & in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

I Cor 8:6 Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things & for whom we exist & one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things & through whom we exist.

Psalm 71:20 You who have made me see many troubles & calamities will revive me again; from the abyss of the earth you will bring me up again.

Psalm 86:13 For great is Your loving devotion to me; You have delivered me from the abyss (lowest depths) of Sheol.

Psalm 16:10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol; neither will You suffer Your Holy One to see decay.

Isa 26:19 Your dead live; their dead bodies rise; wake up & shout joyfully, you who live in the dust! For you will grow like plants drenched with the morning dew & the earth will bring forth its departed spirits.

Psalm 88:6 You have laid me in the lowest Pit, in the darkest of (depths of) the abyss.

Psalm 9:13 Be merciful to me, O LORD; see how my enemies afflict me! Lift me up from the gates of death.

Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it & death & Hades delivered up the dead which were in them & they were judged every man according to their works.

Proverbs 16:4 The LORD works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster.

Eccl 12:1 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come & the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them.”

I Pet 4:19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

Acts 17:24 The God who made the world & everything in it is the Lord of heaven & earth & does not live in temples made by human hands.

Hebrews 1:10 And: "In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth & the heavens are the WORK OF YOUR HANDS.

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was FORMED AT GOD'S COMMAND, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Revelation 4:11 "Worthy are You, our Lord & God, to receive glory & honor & power, for You CREATED ALL THINGS & BY YOUR WILL THEY EXISTED & WERE CREATED."

Romans 11:36 For of Him & through Him & to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet so they cannot fathom the work that God has done from beginning to end.

Nehemiah 9:6 You alone are the LORD. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth & all that is on it, the seas & all that is in them. You give life to all things & the host of heaven worships You.

Mark 13:19 For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever will be.

Mark 10:6 However, from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.'

Deut 4:32 Search the past, the time before you were born, all the way back to the time when God created human beings on the earth. Search the entire earth. Has anything as great as this ever happened before? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male & female He created them.

1 Chronicles 16:26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven & earth, the sea & all that in them is & rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day & hallowed it.

Acts 4:24 And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with one accord & said, “O Lord, it is You who MADE THE HEAVENS & THE EARTH & THE SEA & ALL THAT IS IN THEM...

2 Kings 19:15,19 And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, Who dwells between the cherubims, You are the God, even You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; You have made heaven & earth…

Colossians 1:16 For in Him all things were created, things in heaven & on earth, visible & invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him & for Him.

Deuteronomy 10:14 Behold, to the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens & the earth & everything in it.

    Isa 44:6,23-26 “Thus says YHWH, the King of Israel, & His Redeemer, YHWH of hosts: ‘I am the First & I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God...Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it! Shout, you lower parts of the earth...Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer & He who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself; Who frustrates the signs of the babblers & drives diviners mad; Who turns wise men backward & makes their knowledge foolishness; Who confirms the word of His servant & performs the counsel of His messengers...

Isa 40:28 Have YOU not known? Have YOU not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.

Isa 37:16 “O YHWH of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; You have made heaven & earth.

Eph 3:9 And to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things.

Isa 45:12 I made the earth & created man on it; it was My hands that stretched out the heavens & I commanded all their host.

Psalm 95:5 The sea is His, for He made it & His hands formed the dry land.
