The violation of the right to life every day in hundreds or babies killed through abortion.

 

The worst constitutional crisis was Lincoln's War because it nullified the Declaration of Independence.

 

Yes, the worst was when the North invaded America.

I have to agree with Mr. Wald.

 

I would have to vote for the Civil War. Regardless of if you believe the Confederacy had the right to secede or not, I think it is clear that the blessings we enjoy today as Americans may not have persevered through the years had we been divided into two (or more) independent nations. Americans have more in common than different, and have achieved great things together. I still believe the best is yet to come.

 

Considering that that did occur-- the U.S.A. and Canada-- how do you figure?

 

Because Canada was never part of the US. The wanna-be CSA states were...and are. I don't think a bunch of little countries would have attained the theings the US did.

 

I think that President Nixon's Watergate mess has been our biggest constitutional crisis.

 

Britain had more North American colonies than the 13 that became the United States of America. Some remained under British control and became Canada. So that situation is the same-- some rebelled against British control and some didn't, and some rebelled against federalist control and some didn't.

And if 'little' countries don't accomplish much, why did the USA connive at the independence of so many little countries, particularly during the first 30 or so years after WWII?

The first time the constitution was walked allover was Abe when he destroyed states rights.

 

I have only watched that movie one time and that was well over a decade ago. I don't recall that scene.
