One of the reasons why I am so insistent on Reformed theology is because it's a bulwark against dispensationalism and all its excesses.
No one taught a pre-tribulation rapture before the 1830s. It was just a matter of time before hyper-dispensationalism came around, due to the ahistorical nature of dispensationalism.
I do have to admit, however, that the "free grace" position of modern dispensationalists seems to be closer to what Luther and Calvin taught than the "Lordship salvation" position taught today by people who claim to be Calvinists.
