Dead Man's Choice?

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.

1) It is God who quickens, who makes alive, and not we ourselves in any way, fashion, or form.

2) We come into this world dead in sin - D-E-A-D. When Adam fell, he did not merely bruise his pinkie or merely stub his toe - he died spiritually in that day and all his posterity with him.

As my avatar quotes from Jonah 2:9 - "Salvation is of the LORD." It is not of man in any way, fashion, or form.

So if anyone has a problem with Ephesians 2:1 and being called spiritually dead, their problem is not with me.

Did you never think that there are other Christians who may not share your enthusiasm for Calvinist theology and practice other doctrines… probably not right.

 

If you are referring to what is called the doctrines of grace, I came to understanding those in the last half of the 1990s, which is what led me at the end of February 1999, to leave the Church of Christ, in which I was born and raised.

 

Where is the parents involvement?

 

Parents have a responsibility to teach their children:

Deuteronomy 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

 

I have also studied the D O G and have areas of both agreement and disagreement. Do you disagree anywhere with it?

 

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

I'll answer in an affirming way - I believe the Biblical teaching that man is dead in sins, and that God chose a people(His elect) before the world began and gave them to His Son to be their Surety, and that the sins of God's elect were imputed to Christ and He paid their sin debt at the cross and that He fulfilled the law on behalf of God's elect and His perfect righteousness was imputed to them, and that in the course of time that the Holy Spirit brings God's elect under the hearing of the gospel of Christ and regenerates them and grants them the gifts of faith and repentance from dead works, and that God preserves His elect and ultimately brings them to glory in the new heavens and earth wherein dwells righteousness.

 

Yea seperatly from the processed teaching system i.e. after the fact. We PB’s integrate the whole process from beginning to end. Think about it, our children are the future and it’s our responsibility to rear them to know Christs word and become an intricate part of the Kingdom. I don’t want them even sitting separately from my wife and I and I’ve seen others mess up that critical process. Then it becomes the parents responsibility to set the kids straight. And I want to encourage my kids to come to me and my wife first with any questions and concerns. That’s our family dynamic.

 

No he did not. Paul, inspired of God in Acts 17, commanded all men everywhere to repent. Did every man repent just because God commanded them to? The correct answer is no. God, Paul said, has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man, Jesus Christ, whom he has ordained, and has given all men assurance in that he has raised him from the dead. This after he had said God had providentially divided the nations so all men can seek after God though he is not far from any of us.

So according to you and KenH we have a sovereign God giving a command that is being disobeyed for 2000 years since it was given. This is asinine and ludicrous reasoning. And why would he need to give a command if all men were acting as he has sovereignly ordained. How could they have acted differently?

The youngsters are not being taught anything different in substance during the Bible study period than what those same children are hearing preached from the pulpit during the worship service when they are sitting next to their parents. The gospel of Christ is proclaimed to young and old during the Bible study period and in the singing and in the Bible reading and in the praying and in the preaching during the worship service.

 

This is a question(so don't get your feathers all ruffled up and accuse me of putting words in your mouth):

Do you believe that Christ perfected forever by one offering those whom God has sanctified in Christ?

 

I hate that queer song! The RC Nuns attempted to make me sing it in Catholic School and I refused. I still consider that entire process as indoctrination into a cult… it included Physical abuse, brain washing and mental abuse, humiliation etc… and that song shows the RC hypocrisy of the whole damn process.

 

Yea and I’ve seen abusive interaction between students and teachers. I am emphatic that responsible parents are the very best mentors and teachers for young students. After all who cares more for them than their parents and I will include their grandparents. :Smile

 

Well, let you ease your mind, then, and assure you that nothing of that sort is taking place at the church I attend. The room they are in during Bible study is right next to the auditorium where we have Bible study and the worship service. We do not have some sprawling complex. We are all in this building, and a sizable portion of it is the kitchen/dining area for fellowship meals where the carport is:

I’m not talking about your church. But what I’ve seen and experienced in the past has convinced me of my stance.

 

That I understand but you also have to remember that if the children are attending that church so are the parents. What the children are getting is false doctrine, a man made doctrine that attacks the very character of God.

 

I’m not conserned, parents have the ultimate responsibility to qualify the church they are attending and to question the messages the pastor is sending to the congregation. If they are mishandling the word of God it’s the responsibility of both the parents and the elders to correct it… and believe me, my voice is active in reviewing such errors… I don’t put anything under the rug. And if I wasn’t convinced that my attending church was not preaching scripture, My family and I would be out of there.
