I am a Bible teacher at my church and I am studying for my Masters in Biblical Teaching.
I have asked a question to get some responses. What do you think a women role is in the Baptist Faith? Are women called to pastor? Can you help spread that question to get some responses? Thank you

You can start a thread and we can respond there. You’ll get better traffic there than you will in the intro forum, imo.

The scriptures themselves do not seem to have a female qualified to be either the Pastor or an Elder of the local assemblies, but the teaching aspect can be discussed!

Most around here believe that women are prohibited from pastoral roles. In our Baptist tradition, we use the scripture as our highest standard of faith and practice. I understand the Bible to teach that all persons, men and women, may be called to serve in all capacities in the Kingdom of God.

Expect to have a lot of well-intentioned people to discourage you from your calling. Almost all will do so out of deep respect for the scriptures and concern for your obedience to Christ. There will also be a few malicious people who want to put you in your place.

If you want to read a conservative, scripturally-sound, and Baptist argument for the roles of women and men in ministry, I recommend E. Earle Ellis' book, "Pauline Theology: Ministry and Society." A chapter of the book, entitled, "Paul and the Eschatological Woman," deals with many of the disputed texts and gives you a conservative Baptist perspective that counters the mainstream Baptist conservative viewpoint. Just so you know, Dr. Ellis taught at Southwestern Seminary at the pleasure of Paige Patterson, the "conservative" icon of the Southern Baptist Convention.

All thatv you would need to do to persuade any of us over to your and his view would be to quote any scripture to support your position, and there are none!
