When I go to 'my computer' it does not show the backup [external] hard drive. When I turned the back up on I heard the ding-dong that shows it is found but nothing on the drives listed on My Computer...

How do I find it? [ it has worked fine in the past...I just don't turn it on very often]

Open My Computer and if it is not there press F5, this will refresh the list. If that doesn't work you can either reboot or unplug the drive from the computer and plug it into a different jack.

It is not uncommon for a drive not to pick up properly if it is shut off.

If that doesn't work you might try the drive on another computer to be sure that it is functioning properly.

Thanks, refresh does not work. I will have to try it later on another computer

When I click in the tray on 'safely remove hardware' it shows 'usb mass storage device' at 'location 0'
