POD is a Christain band who's music in the beginning was based mostly around Christ. Over the course of their albums however it has kinda drifted away from being music about god to being music that has good messages in it (with a few notable exceptions). I know people who have problems with that. They are beyond a doubt a Christain band, they were the first one I liked (becasue of the type of music), but after getting into Christain music more I find that I still liek them, but rthere are other bands who's lyrics are directed a lot more around God. I kinda think of them as a band that draws non-Christains into Christian music.
But thats just my opinion. :D

I do not like heavy metal at all. I do like people like Rebecca St. James, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jaci Valasquez, Point of Grace, Steve Green, Newsong, ect... I do not like Micheal W. Smith(except his albom Freedom). He does not include things about God much. If you can't tell it's Christian I don't want it. I have doubts about P.O.D., and the sincerity of their beliefs.

Bugman, I agree with you on the theory that POD draws non-Christians to Christian music, and I personally find value in that. Sometimes growth as a Christian does NOT take place overnight and seeds need to be planted!

The thing that many people bring up when talking about POD and brining non-Christina people into Christian music is that no where in the Bible is music used as an evangalism tool. Personally I dont' have a probelm with it.

Ok...I know this young lady is not proclaiming to be a christian singer but I really have to wonder if she is a christian. Michelle Branch's music is just amazing to me and really makes me think so much, I really appreciate her lyrics and I also believe that Christian singers can be out in the secular world singing music that will pull the non christians into the reality of Jesus.

I like CCM. Groups like POD, Skillet, Caedmon's Call, Jars of Clay, Audio Adrenaline, dcTalk, Rachel Lampa, Stacie Orrico and Joy Williams (don't forget Superchic[k]) are almost always in my CD Player. What can I say, I love 'em!!!!!!!!!!

well, it seems everyone here's new...me too!
I listen only to christian music, but my taste is much varied from the rest of you guys. I'm into some of the really really heavy metal (Underoath, Tantrum of the Muse, Blindside) Most of it is somewhat experimental in nature, but with a death metal type sound to it. I'm also big on a style of music called 'emo', which is made up mostly of christian bands, thought they do not bear that title, necessarily. Some of my favorites there are Sunny Day Real Estate, Noise Ratchet, Ransom Tree, and The Cheese Monkeys from Planet Nine (unfortunately, the cheese monkeys broke up)
I also listen to some of the more popular ccm, i'm enjoying tree 63, newsboys, and that style too...anywho, nice to know what everyone likes, music is how i relate best to God.

I'm 22 (somewhere between the teen and adult world ) and I'm starting to work more with my church's youth ministry.
Personally, I like a lot of Christian hip hop and R&B like GRITS, Gospel Gangstaz, L.A. Symphony, etc. I LOVE Out of Eden and Kirk Franklin. "Reborn" by Rebecca St. James and "Shackles" by Mary Mary are (as we say in the NYC area) my jams! ;) I'm starting to listen to a few more artists, so I'm sure I'll be talking more about the music as time goes by!

I am 15 and not so new here. :D I used to like Country music but when I realized how immoral it had become, I switched back to Gospel. I love to hear our LORD lifted high!!!
-
I'm 19...about to exit the teen world.
I listen to mostly CCM, along with praise and worship songs and choruses.
I listen to some jazz and country as well, but not country as much now since I found that my days actually went better when I got songs about Jesus in my head rather than some country song about sin :D -
southern gospel is my favorite. the cathedrals our legacy five are neat!

The 3 best Modern Christain bads I have come across are:
Disciple - Heavy Christain Rock
Knights of the Realm - Chgristain Rap
Friday's Cry - Christain Rock
Although many peopel do not liek the type of music they are, their lyrics are the msot Christ centered lyrics I have heard from any modern Chrsitain band.
