Thanks, Rhet. This is a good review by a heavy hitter. Have you read the book yet? I note that my brother, the author, put in an appearance in the comments at this blog.

As you probably know, the John R. Rice papers are at SEBTS, which of course is where these bloggers teach, being digitized to be stored later at Southwestern, where JRR attended. (And have I ever mentioned on the BB more than a dozen times that my son, Rice's great grandson, is doing his Ph. D. at SEBTS? )

There is an interesting exchange with Trevin Wax and SEBTS prof Nathan Finn at Wax's review of my brother's book: http://trevinwax.com/2011/06/28/book-review-the-sword-of-the-lord/

    God bless!

    John

His books were popular at my Alma Mater (at least when I was there) - Calvary Bible College and Theological Seminary.

What is the status of the magazine now?

    "That is all!"

I met Shelton Smith, the third and current editor, years ago on furlough. He was gracious and received my family into his office, talked for awhile. My son and I were impressed with his baseball memorabilia. [IMG]

By all accounts "The Sword" is doing well business wise. I don't have figures, though. I am blessed that they still preserve my granddad's ministry, keeping many of his books in print. In doctrine, Dr. Smith is KJV only, so that's a departure from my granddad.
