    Ex-dictator Pinochet ordered arrested in Chile

    SANTIAGO, Chile - A judge today ordered the arrest of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet for crimes related to a secret detention center used in the years following his 1973 coup, court sources said.
    Judge Alejandro Solis ordered the arrest of Pinochet for 36 cases of kidnap, one of homicide and for 23 cases of torture at the Villa Grimaldi, a political detention center run by Pinochet's secret police where thousands of people were tortured between 1974 and 1977.

    Why anyone thinks secret torture camps are ever justified is beyond me.

    And why anyone thinks that the mild hazing that has been going on is the same as being tortured to death is beyond me also.

    Here we go again with the name calling and attacks. I never mentioned Bush. In fact, I was thinking of Saddam Hussein when I posted this. But now that you mention it . . .

    It is amazing to me how many mind readers we have here.

    Find it hilarious, and in retrospect, there are similarities with Bush as well. However, I never accused Bush of homicides, such as those Pinochet is guilty of. I'll admit, he has taken the first steps toward a brutal dictatorship, but we are not there yet.

    You and DeeJay assumed Bush...therefore YOU guys must have thought that, since it was the first thing that came to mind.

    The point I was alluding to was that we invaded Iraq to get rid of Saddam, but did not invade Chile.

    BTW, I am not the one who participates in name calling. I have been called everything from a heretic to a liar to a baby killer on this board, but have never responded in kind.

    Unfortunately, you just mentioned Bush. None of the previous posts included a name.

    I thought you were referring to a number of other possibilities -- until you wrote a specific name.

    The very limited discussion group here is very different than the huge audience Rush has. The laws for libel and slander even recognize this fact.

    So do you and carpro ever discuss the OP topic of a thread without starting personal attacks and derailments?

    You are of course correct, but from reading the first post by DeeJay, it was apparent to me he thought I was accusing Bush of crimes like those of Pinochet.
