We appreciate you, Jim, and we are glad you are not leaving the Board. We always look forward to your posts. You will have more time to post if you are not a moderator. ;)
The job of moderator must be very difficult and there comes a time in our lives that we do not enjoy controversy. -
Jim, I am said to lose you as a moderator. I have only an inkling of what you and the other moderators do, but I know you are kept busy fighting fires by we posters who have discovered the joy of lighting matches without considering that the house may burn down.
We all respect your wishes and know you have good reasons for your decision, but we wish it were otherwise. -
I want to thank you all for your kind words. I also want to let you know that my stepping down is very personal. I mean no castigation on the BaptistBoard, which is still the very best on the net.
Perhaps when this conflict in Iraq is finished, we will return to sense and sensibility, and Christian graces will return.
Freedom must be seen as coequal, and not singular. If I am not free, then neither are you, because you then become captive to your own sense of freedom, and that is not freedom at all.
My granddaughter, 11 years of age, has been verbally assaulted in Florida. Her only crime; she was born in Canada. This is a low blow, and I don't have very good feelings at this moment. Anyone can attack me. I am able to defend myself, or not. Not a child! Not a child!
It is in the best interests of the Board that I restrict my posts and my activities at this moment in time.
Cheers to all, and God bless.....keep posting and enjoy fellowship, one with the other.....there is nothing more precious in this human life.
Jim -
Jim, I am praying for your family in Florida, and for you and your family at home.
Prejudices is a bad thing. It does not affect one person. The hate affects us all.
God Bless
Sherrie -
Amen, Sherrie!
Jim, I am so sorry that this has happened to your family and especially to your precious granddaughter.

Blackbird: "Well, I've got tomatos planted--with about 65 more left to plant--I've got corn comin' up and I will soon need a rain--"
A ninety-year old deacon in our church planted 200 tomato plants. The hail last night ruined them.
He sold over $3000.00 worth of tomatoes last summer to a local restuarant.
BettyE -
Betty,
Storm system came through right when church was endin' tonite--we had just gathered for the monthly Deacon's mtg--and some of the ladies and kids were still hangin' round---then it hit--lightenin'--horizontal rain and wind whippin' --then the hail hit--golfball size--Ole Blackbird's truck was in the "line of fire"--but damage was minimal--at least I could only see minimum in the dark--I'll investigate in the daylight tomorrow
MY, my! 200 plants, huh? 90 year old man, huh? Put ole Blackbird to shame--mercy--I'm gonna have to check the hail damage to my crop tomorrow--got corn comin up--I don't "think" the corn was damaged--but will check tomorrow, too!
Have a good day, folks!
Blackbird -
Always at the mercy of the elements, Blackbird. And watch out for the tomato worms; they decimated my pitiful plants last year. But revenge is satisfying. You know what I mean.

Blackbird, heres an article that was in our paper this weekend.

Blackbird: " ... lightenin'--horizontal rain and wind whippin' --then the hail hit--golfball size ... "
Eek! our hail was only pea size. But it piled
up about an inch thick. Yes, my Brother Deacon
friend is 90. I think he spent all week laying
out the 200 tomato plants. He sold them last
summer to a local resturant for $1 a pound:
fresh and vine ripened. I think he took in
like $2800 so sold them 2800 pounds. He gives
away the not-perfect tomatoes to people like
me (which is why i don't have to work and
do a garden also )
Anyway, he had invested about $200 in all
those plants he put out last week. It looks
like it was only about half destroyed.
I hope your 'maters and corn survived somewhat.
I'll be lifting you up, Brother Blackbird
in prayer today. I do need to run off
and tend to my secular employment now. -
rsr, FoxNews.com has an article on the families of troops at Fort Sill. If you are interested in reading it the link is: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,83407,00.html. It is a good article and talks about how the community is helping the families of the troops deployed to Iraq. It was very sad to hear of the 3 soldiers from Fort Sill that were killed the end of last week. We definately need to keep their families in our prayers.

I haven't seen Canadians being attacked here (though I am sure it happens), but I have seen the attacks on the French people as a whole and it has gone too far. There are several French posters on the board and they are constantly having to defend themselves from acusation of American posters. We should be showing the love of Christ to our Christian brothers and sisters regardless of where they live or what nationality they may be. I wonder what the "world" thinks when they see Christians verbally attacking other Christians and expressing hate instead of love.
I hope you will reconsider and eventually resume your moderator duties, but I understand and support you in your decision to step down for now. I hope you will still post at least on these threads. It would be a huge loss to the board if you left entirely. -
You are very kind, Rod, and thank you.
I wish to confirm that I am relinquishing my role as a moderator, and not abandoning the Board. I still believe very much in this BaptistBoard, and think it is the very best on the net. I will be posting, especially on this beloved thread. Usually nothing but kindness in here.
Cheers,
Jim -
Jim
I thought this said you were staying and moderating. Please forgive me. I could have swore that is what was said.
