Nehemiah 4:17 says, They which builded on the wall and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, everyone with one of his hands wrought in the work and with the other hand HELD A WEAPON."
Please do not confuse faith with fatalism.
Did the Father that sent the brethren to rebuild Jerusalem not allow them to protect themselves?
Did the brethren that went to Jerusalem by the permission of Artaxerxes not believe that the Lord would enable them to rebuild the wall "that we be no more a reproach?" Neh 2:17
Nehemiah shows his faith in verse 20 when he says, "Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, HE WILL PROSPER US; therefore we his servants will arise and build,,,"
Should the American Christians who went to war to help protect England have gone unarmed? -

I've been tracking this debate over the last couple of days. And I have these observations:
- Most Americans here view firearms as tools with multiple uses.
- Our Lord did not need physical weapons. He defended himself in the Garden with a simple "I am". Even though he told the disciples to bring two swords.

What you need to show, is a verse from the New Testament, which is the Church Age, that even hints at this freedom to own arms? -

This is a command to the disciples of him who could call down 12 legions of angels and had no need for one.
I must assume you are a pacifist by your OP. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I see a vast difference between laying down our lives for the brethren and taking a life protecting one's life and family from a car jacking.
I travel between Tennessee and Virginia quite frequently and do carry my weapon with me. I do have a concealed carry permit also because of my previous profession. I have asked the Lord that I would NEVER be in a situation where I would have to pull it.
However, I could not live with myself thinking that if I had only had a weapon I could have saved by wife from rape or murder should that situation arise. Where is the great love for the life of another in failing to protect one's family?
I Tim 5:8 says, But if any provide not for his own, and specially those of HIS OWN HOUSE, he hath DENIED THE FAITH, and is WORSE THAN AN INFIDEL. Providing for one's family included not only food but also protection. From this I must conclude that the scriptures in now way forbid owning weapons for protection.
I hope you have not denied the faith.
Do you think the Ethiopian treasurer commanded his caravan to discard their weapons after he was baptized by Philip? You know better.
Again I must ask, should the American Christian soldiers have come unarmed to help protect England? -
