The church burnings were terrible and I applaud those bringing the guilty to justice. However here could be an opportunity. Mild weather is coming. The churches are without meeting places. Why not use this opportunity to hold open air church meetings? Where? What about public parks? I believe if the churches would announce and hold open-air meetings they will attract many more outsiders both lost and saved than they ever have with their church buildings.

OUr church burned one time. It was arson, and it was the pastor and the secretary behind it, covering up embezzlement and an affair. Its a terrible thing to experience.

(BYW, lol, that was before my husband was a pastor, lol!!)

They've charged two college kids and are looking for a third.

There will be a new conference with the ATF(Alabama Tobacco and Firearm) at 2:00 central time. MSNBC has a story up already on their website.

One of these kids is supposedly the son of a Jefferson County official and was on full scholarship to B'ham Southern. :(

I hope noone took my laugh face wrong. I was laughing at TT's postscript.

This is a happy story, as the perpetrators have been caught, we hope, and they may have burned some buildings, but they cannot destroy God's word.

Not being argumentative, just wondering...how is that relevant?

I have not followed this story too closely, but weren't most of the churches in black neighborhoods? Lots of people just assume that they were hate and racist crimes. I am just curious to see if this was the case or not.

I should have expounded on my thoughts earlier... sorry.

Actually, several predominantly white churches and several predominantly black churches were burned. They've about ruled out the racial angle...though there could be some race-baiters surface later.

I saw a brief photo of one guy. He was caucasian. Dunno about the other two.

    Some joke.

With Easter almost upon us, I too hope these churches can use this for His Glory.

I think justice for these three young men would be to buy the materials and rebuild each church twice a big as before the fires. Then they should serve thier sentence by serving the needs of the widows and children of these churches for twenty years.

Interesting thought PoB, I was going to add maybe they should help rebuild the churches (under close supervision) but then maybe giving these guys a nail gun isn't such a good idea. ;)

I read that the two did it originally as a prank. If that's their idea of having fun, I hate to see what they do when they're ticked off at someone!
