I am sure this thread has been done a million times, but I am curious... any other BB instrumentalists out there?

I play guitar, piano, and bass. My attempts at playing drums and violins in particular haven't met with success :D

I play guitar sufficiently, but I don't have it mastered. I can play just about anything as long as I have a capo handy. Also, my days of playing banjo have lent themselves well to finger-picking on the guitar. It makes me sound much better than I actually am.

Anyone who knows guitar and watches me play will know this instantly - but I still enjoy myself!

I play the piano (by ear - southern/country gospel flavor), the baritone and trumpet.

I make a motion we organize the first annual Baptist Board jam session for 2008. Wouldn't that be fun? Maybe we could meet in a central location such as Little Rock.

Piano, alto sax, alto clarinet, congas, and currently learning the weird instrument of the day, the hurdy-gurdy.

I bet your head is killing you. :D

I can see it now...world tour, Youtube exposure, playing gigs at packed arenas, seeing ourselves on VH1 20 years from now on a "Whatever happened to...the BaptistBand?"

I play that lower brass (trombone, baritone, tuba), saxophones (currently playing the baritone sax in our community band). Can play some trumpet, but that mouthpiece is kinda small.

What's funny is that I have a minor in piano from college and I couldn't play my way out of a paper bag.

I have mastered my radio and CD player, and am getting fairly proficient at my mp3 player.

If I had made that statement here, somebody would have come on here and said, "Hey, maybe it's that your mouth is too big!"

Obviously, SBCPreacher is much more respected than I, since no one has made that comment.

I used to play the radio, but I got a lot of static from it. :wavey:

When I was a child, I used to play on the linoleum.

I play the piano and the baritone.

Not at the same time, though. :)

In another life I played the guitar.

I am hoping to get it back out and play some more soon though.

Music is the only thing I have ever done well.

Piano....accomplished, classical, gospel, country, and rock - I can sight read anything.

Voice....I sing tenor in the choir to help the tenor section. I am really an alto. I can sight read anything. My husband and I sing duets also.

Oboe and flute - in high school and college, haven't picked one up for years. I bought a flute 2 years ago, and I am trying to re-establish myself.

I am a good accompanist. I was accused of knowing what the director was going to do before he/she did it - back when I was at the Univ of Arizona Music Dept.

Like dcorbett, I'm an alto but frequently sing tenor.
When I sing solos I usually have to key the songs down a few steps.

I hear ya, bro. I started learning how to play guitar, then I had rotator cuff surgery, and now three months after surgery I am just back to the point of being able to put my right arm in position comfortably to start learning again. My wife just bought me a second acoustic guitar. I guess I can sound twice as bad now.

I play electric guitar and electric bass.

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, mostly blues. I recently started trying to read notes, via Mel Bay's Complete Method for Modern Guitar. The going has been slow.

Although I had played bass on and off since about 1969, I really started playing in earnest when my sons got into music back in 1996. Although we stopped playing together about a year ago, I still, at least for the present, consider myself more of a bassist. But that will probably change since I am practicing my guitar more right now.

One of these days, I'll have to get a myspace music ID and give the world a taste of what Brahm's Cradle Song sounds like when played on a Stratocaster through a Twin Reverb (with just the right touch of vibrato, of course). :)

I have two kits, the one at home is a Tama Rockstar with Zildjians and the one at church is a Mapex Saturn with Paiste cymbals.
