I really like the word “indubitably”. Not sure how to spell it, but I like the way it sounds. It rolls off the lips like a majestic eagle taking flight.

It does have side effects, however. It caused my children to roll their eyes and say things like, “dad, please don’t embarrass me in front of my friends.”

Do you have any favorite words?

    peace to you

    "in-DOO-bit-a-blee." It's spelled right.

I think, especially as we grow older, our minds travel down the well traveled ruts of our prior thinking (with a nod to Agatha). And we view views outside our ruts as "twaddle." And I like "unabashed temerity" and "unmitigated gall" with a nod to Dickens. Edify and Enlighten are good too. I disdain "atonement" but am devoted to "reconciliation."

Another sentence I like is from a Perry Mason book, "He lit a cigarette and search for words to clothe an idea."

Very nice examples. Some folks just have a gift of “turning a phrase”.

    peace to you

    "Exuberating"

I'm not as much of a daredevil as I was when I was younger, I have found I don't bounce or recover as well, but back in the day when I would take on a physical challenge which got pretty extreme and seemed to be on the edge I used to love to end the excitement with joking around and say, "Well, that was exuberating!". That’s funny. I never heard that in my younger days, but my kids had a phase about 10 years ago where they were saying it all the time.

Nice. Sounds like Spock saying “fascinating”.

That reminds me I used to, and still do occasionally, parrot Jim Carrey with “all righty then” after someone makes a heated statement.

    peace to you

My Mom used to try to rein in my Dad from telling people EXACTLY what was on his mind, he saw nothing wrong with it as long as he felt it was truthful. She would tell him he was being obstreperous.

    How about condescensions r us?
    Or malignant narcissists r us?
Or You can’t fix stupid r us?
I thought preeminent r us was pretty clever, perhaps it was you who missed it.

Here is a definition just for you

    pre·em·i·nent
    /prēˈemənənt/
    Learn to pronounce

    adjective
    1. surpassing all others; very distinguished in some way.
There are those who are naturally preeminent and those born to be obscure. Shall I explain that word to you also, might come in handy for you to discover your true worth. Don’t hold your breath.

I wasn’t attacking you. I thought you told me once in a thread that the word I was looking for was “preeminent”, and I was playing off that conversation.

Gadzooks! Let’s keep having fun with this.

    peace to you
