Did the Son of God Die?
Did the Son of God Die?
This is an oft debated issue and it far to often causes the Christian to move away defeated and there is no good reason for this to ever happen. First of all we need to understand some things that are being left unexamined by the soft soap preachers of today. It is important to understand that God is a spirit being and except for the spirit contained in each and every human-being on this Earth there is no similarity between the bodies of man and God, the Father.... -
Which publisher(s) make the best Bibles?
This is a quality question.
I see that there are many here who favor one publisher over another based on quality of the actual Bible (binding, durability, page thickness, etc).
Can you rank them? Or who are the top 3? Top 5? -
Swimwear
This came up in another thread and it does raise some serious questions. While there is no call for the believer to refrain from swimming even in mixed groups, there is a call for modesty. By the way this should be for bother male and female.
The problem today is that many Christians seem to think that modesty depends on where you are not what you wear. If we go to the beach since we are surrounded by immodest people we seem to thing we can be like them or f we are especially pious to... -
Would Paul write what he never preached?
Would Paul - or any contributor to the writings of the New Testament for that matter - have written as a Letter to the Church something that he never preached to the Congregations as a sermon? For example,
Did Paul ever PREACH first Corinthians chapter 15? -
Is effeminacy a problem?
In light of the current homosexual marriage controversy in which our nation is now thoroughly embroiled due to the President's recent remarks, what do you think about the secondary issue of effeminacy of men in our culture.
If a man walks, talks, moves, and in general behaves in ways that are largely recognized as feminine- but the man is heterosexual- is this perfectly okay with you...
or...
Do you think men ought to walk, talk, move and behave in a way that is very distinct from... -
Abraham and "the deeds of the law"
Paul gives Abraham as His illustration to prove that "justification by faith without the works of the law" (Rom. 3:27-28) provides no grounds for boasting. Romans 4:1-3 makes it clear this is precisely the reason Paul introduces Abraham at this juncture:
1 ΒΆ What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed... -
Back-Row Baptists
In summary, why do so many people love the back row?
In a small meeting, people will congregate at the back...and even in the back corner - and others as close to the exit door as possible.
Has there ever been a study on this? Why do people sit where they sit - and why do so many prefer to be as far away as possible?
When I suggested last night "there are only a few here, how about we all move forward a few rows," I was greeted with open hostility. I sure didn't get it, but I'm... -
What is a Reformed Baptist Church?
Considering the popular debate over the doctrines of grace, I thought it would prove beneficial to explain how these doctrines flourish in the Baptist tradition. The late Pastor William Payne, from Burlington, Ontario, Canada preached a sermon on this very topic. The sermon is condensed here and does a good job of presenting Baptist distinctives within Reformed theology.... -
Is It Time to Boycott Marvel Comics???
Now that the Green Lantern has come out of the proverbial closet, I wonder how long it will be before the Marvel Company decides to bring another superhero out of the same closet?
This is the liberalization and watering down of American values and morality, and just because it is ever so slow, doesn't mean it isn't still eating away at, and eroding the foundation upon which our younger generation's values and morals will have to stand.
Not only is the need for tolerance being forced... -
Must I leave BB?
Since my former Baptist pastor holds that all subjects -- eg the Person of Christ vs. how to grow up and be true men--are of equal importance to preach, and that preaching/teaching doctrine really is not so important, and that all adult SS teachers are of the same quality regardless of commitment, training and preparation , I left that Baptist church and joined a Christian church which IMO is doctrinally baptistic ( yes, I tried other Baptist churches in my area) .
SO: as I am no longer...
