Sounds good Dan but I'd feel as if I were stealing from Gary if I did. Nice warm fire... nice soft chairs... door beeps if it opens... cordless phones....

Wouldn't want you to steal - so keep those eyes open!

    Dan  wide open!

It's getting harder and harder Dan but Jim and Nick are coming in a little later today after school work is finished so that'll help break up the monotony. I've listened to 'The Perfect Storm' and have 'Finding Nemo' on now.

It's so dreary out today. Perfect day for a two hour nap. Yawn...

I sure hope you feel much better tomorrow Roger. Sue is so quiet so I think she must feel really bad. I know this cold has me feeling yukky but thankfully I just have to sit here and answer calls, etc.

See you tomorrow! I'll be at work so online all day again.

I see the delightful topic of headcovering has reared again, in two forums at the same time no less. Theology and the ladies' forum...I always use a headcovering when it rains; a brollie.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Roger,
    for colds/ bad chests/sore throats.
Next Autumn -put in a saucepan together 1lb elderberries, 1lb blackberries, 1lb soft brown sugar, grate 1/4 nutmeg into this and a few cloves (10 or so, tied in a muslin bag like the ones you soak peas in)
boil this up and simmer until a syrup is formed .... strain the liquid into a screw top bottle and dilute to taste with warm water when you have a cold; the cordial/syrup will keep for 12 months in a cool dark place.I usually make a couple of lemonade bottles full- it is so easy.

A gal at my church wore a royal blue suit and a beautiful matching hat. The thought crossed my mind during the service that I was surprised she didn't take her hat off, you know, like I would always have my son take off his ball cap when we go in the church, even during the week, then I remembered about women and head covering. I felt a little silly.

Time to go up to the headcovering thread and start pulling hair (so to speak). I like how Jim put it - reared its "head" again.

Just stopping by a minute to say "Hi" to all.

    "Hi" to all. [IMG]

Jul: It is proper for a lady to leave her hat on inside a building whether she is a Christian or not. ;)

Dr.B.: I took care of the one in the Women's Forum yesterday...good luck with yours! [IMG]

    Hello Folks,
I don't get in here as often as I would like, but when I sit still for any length of time I fall asleep . . .

Diane, I remember Jim saying something about you "drop-testing" your digital camera.

there was something else I was going to respond to, but as usual when I get caught up on the reading I forget what it was . . .

My husband tested our digital cameras thrill ride endurance at Magic Mtn in CA. It failed miserably. It just never would do another thing. Honey bought me a new one last year, and we love it. It is NOT allowed to go on thrill rides.

Oh, and Sue, I really did know about ladies hat etiquette, I was just being my blond self!!

Speaking of camera's---I was at a friend's little "What Not" store---the mom and pop operation where you sell antique dishes and stuff---this buddy would go across the state buyin' people's "junk"---haul it home with him---clean it up real good and sell the stuff that was still worth sellin'---

He also ran it as a sort of "Pawn" shop---where if you had something to "hock"---he'd buy it!

While I was in there---a little fella about 10 years old came in---with a camera--35mm with one of those "zoom" lenses built in automatically---he wanted to "hock" it to this buddy of mine---I was watchin'----

Buddy: "Tell ya what, Fella! I'll give you $5.00 for that camera!"

    Fella---"OK!!!!"

Before the deal had a handshake--I chimed in---"Tell ya what, Mark! I'll give you $20.00 for the SAME camera!! Ole Hinky Doo there(my buddy) ain't gonna give ya but $5.00(Hey!!! Free market, ain't it???)---we shook on the deal---me a 40 yr. old---shakin' hands with a 10 year old over a camera!!!

But I wanted the camera--and the 10 year old wanted the twenty smackers!!!

He was proud of his twenty!!

I was proud of my new (used) camera!!!

Well, my buddy and I got into a friendly argument over his "missed" deal---and I prevailed(one of the few times I ever do!!!)---but we went on and on---in friendly "discussion" over free trade and market stuff---rippin' people off and makin' shady deals--and stuff like that---he told me I was a crook for stealin' that camera from that little boy---and I told him he was a Pirate for such unfair deals in his "pawn" shop!!!

On my way out the door with my camera--he yells---"Hope you break that camera!!!!!!!"---jokin' with me, now!!!!!

    To which I reply----"Man!!! This camera's indestructable!!! I couldn't break it if I tried!!!"

To make a long story short---I got home---got out of the truck---and dropped the camera on the concrete drive---and chipped off a piece---jolted it like it had been previously owned by a Gorilla in a Mad House!!!!

I still have the camera---but it don't work anymore!! I betcha though, that little fella I got it from ----- doesn't still have that twenty spot, though!!!!!

your Southern Baptist preachin', camera bustin' buddy

Just recently, a Jewish friend of mine died. I went to pay my respects at his home and almost removed my hat...there are someplaces where even Christian men do not remove their hats.

Years back, men did not always remove their hats indoors, but always tipped it on entry and in the presence of ladies. Ladies always wore a bonnet of sorts. I remember those days.

    It is an interesting etiquette.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Hi y'all!!! [IMG]

Have never dropped my digital camera, so it still works great! Am not really into photography, though, so don't know what to take pictures of!! However, when spring and summer get here, I'd like to get really good at taking pictures!! [IMG]

Don't wear a hat to church, but did many years ago...remember the "pill box" hats we used to wear? I have some pictures of me wearing those hats and they really look funny now!!

    I'm off tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!!
So looking at a 3-day weekend and am so excited! I'll probably get with my brother and sil at some point, but otherwise, I will work on taxes, read, post on BB and just generally chill out!! :D

Hey CJ! I used to have a 'pill box' hat. I thought it was sooo cute! [IMG] Jackie O was setting the fashion back then...

I have been off sick since Tuesday. Still sick, but can't find anyone to work for me tomorrow, so guess I will go out in the cold whether I want to or not. :(

Hi All! Well I'm home and had my supper, got clothes in the dryer and dishes in the d/w.

Sue, I'm sorry you have to work tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon.

Yep, Gayla, I've now dropped it 5 times! I did figure out tho that since I broke off the little piece that holds the battery in tight, it helps if I push on the tape that's holding it closed.

Gib, Nick is right here insisting I thank you again for his shark tooth necklace. He really loves it.

Jim1999, you got that right! I'm so tired of those head covering threads. I guess these people think they'll sway us if they yell loud enough or long enough.

Dr. Bob! You Rock! You should get fireman of the year for putting out fires!

C.J., I'm so glad your brother is doing fine! Enjoy your day off. I'll be at work and on line. Nick has to go with me for most of the day, well, 11 til 4:30 ish.

Nick and Jim are playing Monopoly and listening to Beethoven in the living room. I'm ready for CSI and bed!

Blackbird and Jul, you KNOW C.J. is never going to let us anywhere NEAR her camera!
