Technically Patrick was after the RCC chuch was formed, but BEFORE it absorbed the Celtic Church in Ireland.

Beautiful day here today, even better cause the kids and Morgann arrived safely!

Yep. Morgan sure looks cute. But the ugle dude with her . . .

Besides cooking cabbage, what other cooking smells make you question making that item at home?

Smell of steaming salmon seems to linger in our house (and gag me regularly)!

    You?

Rutabaga can stick up a house for days but sure tastes good and is good for you! Turnips smell too. We mix rutabaga with potatoes and mash them up. Makes a really neat tasting mashed potato dish!

Nothing like the smell of coffee while the bacon is frying - I'll eat the bacon - you drink the coffee!

    About snow!

Doc - we've got about 12" on the ground where I'm at - forty miles north of us - had 20"

I'd love 70ºF - the stuff would melt!

Dan - reserve most of my complaining for snow and cold weather!

You guys... LOL... The sun is so bright here it hurts my eyes looking out the front of the store! It's only 56° but should be close to 70° by this afternoon!

Spring is nice, except fot the pollen. Summer is too hot. Fall is lovely, except for the leaves... I guess there's good and bad in all seasons, huh?

Dale had to go to Springfield (30 miles away) to have his batteries checked today. He should be getting back anytime now.

We are both dreading the day they have to reopen his chest to replace the batteries. It should be done this year.

LOL Sue - I envisioned Dale taking the CAR to get his batteries checked, not his OWN batteries.

Can't they just hook up an electrical cord with a recharger like I have for my cell phone?

Serious. Isn't there better technology than having the trauma of physically replacing batteries in a chest???

Ouch! Maybe they'll soon have a wy to wire the batteries to a space just under the skin so they won't have to do such major surgery every 3 or so years. Isn't it about 3 years Sue?

Dr. Bob, I thought the same thing at first too.

A quick pop in. Just finished bacon and cabbage with new potatoes cooked in their jackets, corn and sweet carrots with homemade brown soda bread!!
Wow!!! I LOVE the smell of bacon and cabbage cooking!

The whole day was beautiful weather wise as well. Sunny and just a little cool.

Morgann is having a rest so Grampy has a little time to play! They had to travel from Belfast by train because they are having car problems again. Boy they really put me out by having to drive to the train station to get them ;) .

    See you all later.

No Dr. B. The batteries are in a defribbilator in his chest and the only way to get to them is to open his chest and physically replace them.

He just got back and the batteries tested at 70% so they said he was 'safe'. I don't think I would want my life to only be safe 70% of the time...

70% is a D-, almost FAILING, in my classes! That is wonderful technology . . and SCARY at the same time.

Just said a quick prayer for his batteries!

Wow, Sue, 70%! When do they replace them? At 50%?

Roger, glad you're having such a nice visit. How long will they stay? Just for the day?

I'm not sure Diane. They are guaranteed for 3 years and he is in his 4th year now.

We PTL for modern technology, but it IS scary!

He does not have clogged arteries. His brain sends the wrong signal to his heart and he flatlines with no warning. That's why he has a defribillator.

I would just feel better knowing the batteries were working at 100%. But what do I know??? Maybe the paranoia of having lost one husband during open heart surgery is coloring my thinking...
