We had a visiting preacher to fill in for our interim who is on a well deserved vacation.

I did not know who was coming until I saw his name in the bulletin. I was shocked, for there has never been a man's name I hoped to never have to see again, much less look at him face to face.

When he saw me it looked like he had the same reaction. He was so dry. It would have been more exciting to watch grass grow. I don't have much respect for him and would not purposely go to hear him anywhere.

With that said, we had a pretty good service [IMG]

OU played University of Houston ( Maybe they sent one of their high school teams)

Final Score: Oklahoma 63, Houston 13

I think the Sooners got fired up when Houston scored a touchdown in the first few minutes of the game.

It looked like to me that all the OU players got to play.

Looks like the Jags pulled one out at the last minute. A win is a win in the record book and good for moral. Go Jags!

Both the Vikings and Broncos showed class today. Good "first day" methinks.

But enough. I'm really tired, since I had to be up early, drive two hours, preach, teach, eat and drive two hours back.

So no more chit-chat about football. Heading to bed.

Still raining here. Have not seen sun shine since Frances(say that real fast 3 times). It makes for a sleepy day and that's not good for a Monday.

    Good morning all:

Diane: Yes, Brent's appointment with the Urologist is this Friday morning. Thanks for continuing in prayer!

I slept like a ROCK last night and it sure felt GOOD! I think the HRT is getting out of my system.

I slept until 6:30 and that is LATE for me. It is time to get Brent up, fix his breakfast, pack his lunch, drop him off at school and then go to my corner.

I will be back later when I have more time...

    TTFN!

Morning all. We did have sun for 2 days but it's all cloudy again and we expect rain through Friday. Now it appears the hurricane won't turn this way until Friday. Who knows.... weird.

I like it cool! It's still 67° here and we expect some real storms this afternoon. I hope it doesn't rain before I pick up Rob and Sheila (FollowingHim) at the airport!

UPDATE: AIRPORT DELAYS IN ATLANTA ALREADY OF 20 MINUTES.

Gayla.... are you still able to come? They'll be here until Thursday afternoon.

I sure hope so! If the forecast stays the same throughout the day.

Well it looks like we won't get the bad weather now until Friday and your area might not get it as bad but who knows! LOL

The airport NOW says their flight will arrive 8 minutes EARLIER than scheduled. What happened to the 20 min. delay!! They're to arrive in 40 mins. and it's a 45 min. drive but with unloading and baggage claim, I should be pretty close to right on time (unless something changes before then!)

Let me know when you think you'll come Gayla so I can cook for extra people. I am NOT fancy! LOL. Don't worry about bringing toys. We own Toys R Us ;) ;) ;) Do you still have my phone number? I got a Telezapper so ignore the funny noise. Can't figure out why it's doing that on EVERY call.

Boy Howdy and blessed Monday to all. 55F on the way to 70 something. Cloudy and a little breezy. We are hoping for rain (every day, Lord) and sure could use a hurricane blowing through OUR neck of the woods.

Preached yesterday on "Humility and How I Attained It" from Jeremiah 45. Neat story of little faith Baruch (Jeremiah's secretary) and God's warning to even the working stiff about pride.

Contrasted with Zedekiah (king of Judah) who would not be humbled and look at what happened to him.

For those of us with "thorns in the flesh" lest we be exalted, it is a battle for sure.

    Good Afternoon everyone!

I would like to kick ivan over to Texas they need the rain more. [IMG]

Janolin is home sick with a bad cold. We were out all weekend long riding bikes and she steadly got worse all weekend long. Worse part is so am I. My dad started out with it and he gave it to Janolin who has been so sweet as to share it with me. [IMG] I do love her Generous spirit hehe.

In other news, Please be in prayer for my husband. A very old and dear friend of his family passed away on Friday quite suddenly and the funeral is tomorrow. It's not known if the man was saved. I would love to think so, but, I really don't know at this point.

The girls while riding thier bikes with neighbor kids and my nieces and nephews had a few accidents. Near the house Janolin skidded into another house splitting her lip and her chin got scratched. She also boogered her leg up yesterday on the nature trail. Cassie just got a few bruises, while Megan and my nephew collided at the bottom of a steep hill. One on a bike the other on a scotter no helmets on either  . I've seen the errors of my ways nothing but a couple of bumps other than that they are just fine.

Not sure what we're going to be having for dinner, nothing sounds good at all :-( . Maybe someone will take pity on me and suggest something later.

Ok this is long enough for now.

    Take care
    Your sis in Christ,

    Wendy

I believe the sun is shinning  but have not been able to get out of my office...........yep it's shinning. Maybe we can dry out before the next big rain. Either we have too much or not enough. We're never happy.

Wasn't Georgia fussing with a drought a couple years back? Reservoirs low, etc etc.

Think what goes around comes around. Cyclonically. [IMG]

i shall interrupt this talk about the weather... (we are praying for you!)

Last night was the last night of the month long "Hungry Ghosts Festival". I think it's probably a Taoist festival.

If any have ideas that this is somewhat like Halloween, banish the thought! (Anyway, Halloween has been dressed up in so much cuteness that people forget the roots of the festival are in Satanism, no? )

Some chinese believe that in the seventh month of the lunar calendar, the dead are released from Hades to come to earth.

Everywhere, there will be street performances to entertain the ghosts. IN Taiwan (I read in the papers), they've degenerated into having pole dancers to do items for the ghosts. Naturally, many people are drawn as well. This generates alot of money for the temple.

Here, it's just skimpily dress women singing Hokkien songs.

Anyway, last night, while driving home from shopping, there were mini bond fires everywhere in the housing estates (at the grass areas at the foot of the blocks of flats).

People young and old, were burning paper money (hell money) for their dead ancestors to spend in Hades. It's a square piece of paper with a gold or silver leaf in the centre. I've seen silly western folks think it's such a arty thing and use pieces of it to decorate their homes (you know, "east meets west"???)

You'd think, these same people who are educated, use computers everyday, are still trapped in this belief of burning up pieces of paper to make it usable for dead people in hell... [IMG] I guess it is the fear that if you don't, then your loved ones in hell can't be "comfortable". ??? People burn paper rolex watches at funerals to but i mentioned it over in missions/ evangelism, if anyone's interested.

When I was a child, I used to join my maternal grandma in the burning of the paper. It was fun. I even pieously bowed down at the family alter.
Praise God that He saved me from that blindness and that He can forgive any sin.

    Wow, what a story.

Now they are saying Ivan's coming our way. I guess we;ll know in a day or so!

Heard from hubby in Mexico today - they distributed 1000 Gospels of John this morning and had hoped to do more in the afternoon but were rained out. Three people accepted Christ today. Hubby was on a cloud - this was the first time he has used Spanish to lead someone to the Lord. I am thrilled too.

We are still overrun with the guppies. THey are cute, though. Mabe they'll get big enough to fry. Get it? (Baby gups are called 'fry')

    And I got Janolin's cold too. :(

Su Wei, that was quite an interesting story. As you said, PTL that He saved you out of that. [IMG]

TaterTot, my prayer is that the Lord diffuse this storm before it hits US soil... or at least enter the main land where there are no properties to destroy and no lives to take. Sorry about you haveing a cold. Our older daughter, who is a teacher, just got a cold (probably from the students). [IMG]

Good morning everyone! Hope you all have a victorious day in the Lord. [IMG]

    Good Morning all:

I have to run, but wanted to post this first. I covet your prayers!

My step-granddaughter (hubby's daughters girl) is four-years-old . Her name is Courtney Hoover and she was admitted to Owensboro Mercy Hospital in Owensboro, KY, last night. (They live in Hartford, KY)

Her mother (Kathi) was playing softball for their church league and Courtney was watching. A stray ball hit her in the head and put her into a coma.

Surgeons put a steel plate in her head last night, but as of this morning, she has no brain activity.

Please pray for this little girl and her family. I will keep you updated. They are going through a terrible ordeal.

    Thanks so much,
