    do not desist
    comment on the OP

For example - if a Baptist believes that sprinkling is acceptable under limited conditions
would that make him a liberal baptist?

BUT - it does involve interpretation.

Some say a church must have several elders
others say that a church only needs one pastor.

So who is right - who is wrong - who determines who is right or wrong.

I see. You're using the terms in the sense that liberal means breaking from tradition and previous philosophy. Today's liberals are tomorrow's conservatives.
Is this meant to be strictly doctrinal?

This post is a perfect example of why you Liberals are so dangerous. In your arrogance, you think truth devolves along with man's devolving respect for the truth. A true Conservative Christian recognizes that it doesn't.

Romans 12:3 "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."

I would never think of my faith and understanding to be superior to those that lived in the Apostles time and under extreme persecution. Prideful arrogance is the foundation of apostasy.

What makes you believe I'm a liberal?

What does it say? A penny for your thoughts

Anyways, I only meant that conservative and liberal are terms we created, and the definitions in regards to what specific views they hold change over time. Conservatives tend to stick to the way things were, and liberals tend to suggest something new. But even conservatives aren't necessarily doing what was done 100, or hundreds of, years ago. Indie Baptists for instance pride themselves on being conservative, but what they consider conservative was new at one point, decades ago.
That's why today's liberals tend to be yesterday's conservatives. (Not using the political definition)

Blue Letter Bible shows "liberal" as being found 6 times in 4 verses of the KJV. Its meaning in all those instances seems closest to "generous." Today's political liberals are indeed generous, only with other people's resources. IMO, religious liberals tend toward being generous in accepting things outside of scriptural principles.

Yes, you are correct about Biblical Liberal. What I normally say is that I as an individual should be generous - Not the govt!
