How many posters are actually active, regular posters. I think we only ahve a little over 200 members with more than 100 posts

I understand the definition, but the number of actual, regular, members is quite small, if you use 100 posts as a measuring rod.

I don't think we are doing to badly then with about a 50% voter turnout if we use that as a standard.

I think this is the best Christian board on the net and am excited that we have so many voters turning out to vote. It shows what an active board we really have.

We had 114 members nominated and 170 people have voted.

The chief problem, as I see it, is that this contest is more of a popularity contest, than a doctrinal, BaptistBoard integrity issue. I prefer to call it the fun channel.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Don't feel bad C4K.
Webmaster made it perfectly clear that it's for choosing people we feel best represent the ideals of the BB.
If a Christian stands for the truth and presents him/herself in a loving, intelligible manner then they are going to be more "popular" and there's nothing wrong with that.
If people vote based on who they think are the cutest or simply because they're friends with them, then there's a slight problem but it's only with them.
Looking at the qualities of the people who have won or received the next highest votes in the past a few things stand out.
They've been steady and firm in their basic beliefs, not wavering.
They are genuine in their posts...showing some degree of personality that lets the posters connect to them.
They show themselves friendly but don't let themselves get used/run over by the more raucous posters. (did I use that word right? :D )
In other words...they are people that anyone would love to have in their church because they encourage others in their own Christian lives. There's nothing wrong with recognizing that!

I hope things change and someone deserving wins instead of the "popular" one.

Why vote? It's obvious the popular people win.
