I don't think Giuliani would have much chance once the mud starts slinging. He can lose conservatives on two counts: his illicit affair where he took his son and, possibly, his daughter on public outings with his mistress and his longstanding pro-choice stance. He can lose with women because of his affair, his nasty tactics in his divorce and the total obscurity of his daughter (Andrew was in the limelight fairly often, but Caroline was practically unknown). He can lose with blacks because of his campaign against Dinkins (rallies where guys waved signs with "washroom attendant" and Dinkin's picture) as well as the record of his administration. He can lose with Democrats and Liberals because he is a Republican.

On the plus side, he handled 9/11 well and crime went down during his administration (it went down nationwide, but he'll get credit for it nonetheless). He has good organization & administrative skills. He cares more for glory & power than for money (although he has become quite wealthy consulting since he left office) - his administration was relatively uncorrupt.

That he promotes chums over people of merit (Safire, Kerrick) is probably a wash - loyalty vs favoritism. Same for his ruthlessness - a lot of people admire that sort of thing.

This will make NO difference to most evnagelicals. It will be okay because he is not a Democrat and it is better to vote for him than to waste your vote on a third party candidate.

IMO, Rice is unqualified. Plus, on a superficial note, what is up with her "Carol Brady" haircut?

The president here is only a "figurehead." I would be MUCH happier if she were in power instead of the present Taoiseach.

In just a short time America will follow Germany's recent example with a woman hed of state. In our case her initials will be HRC :( .

The Dems will nominate Hill but she won't win.

The GOP will not nominate Condi; Frist has a better chance of being nominated. Ashcroft would be best but he will be rejected for being charismatic. McCain will fizzle. Brownback will be set aside. Tancredo will get a look over. Powell is retired for good. The Republicans are weak because they have had to fight a war which the Democrats have tried to use for political capital even while knowing that the war is necessary.

The number of Christian voters that would stay home, avoiding an abortion vote, could give her the election, but only in a squeeker. McCain would be a loser, because he'd crack under the pressure.

My predictions for -08 are that a democrat will win. That person will lean more towards the hard-core liberal on the spectrum. That potus will serve with a republican majority senate and HofR That person will be a one term potus, and in -12 a moderate conservative republican will be elected and hold office for 2 terms. That potus will serve with a rep majority senate, but a dem majority H of R.

I agree with C4K exactly. Hillary is our next Prez.

My choice is John Ashcroft. But I think being AG gave him enough insight about the wickedness in Washington DC to make him run the opposite direction. Even if he would run, he won't be nominated in the Republican Party because it is on the liberal runaway train that already left the station.

I like Brownback and Condi or Condi and Brownback.Brains, guts,& principles.
HRC is at present trying to mask herself as a moderate but her last vote against Roberts right in line with Biden,Kerry,Durbon,&Kennedy showed her true ultra-left liberal colors.HRC like most ultra-left liberals is as phony as a 3 dollar bill and just devoid of any moral principles.

There seems to be some confusion about who actually said this...
was it Joseph Stalin or Walden O'Dell? [IMG]
