A Common Mistake In Christian Marriages.
It is a notion often promoted within Christian groups, in marriage advice venues, and from behind the pulpit on Mothers' Day that one of the roles of a Christian wife is to serve her husband as an ethical and moral reference point during selected times when the husband might be "Just a little off of center" in his thinking and decision making as a Spiritual leader of the family and in The Church.
In fact, it is even common for Pastors to laud their wife's ability to "see certain things"... -
What Specific Things Today Would We As Believers Need Faith For?
As Believers today, we have:
1.) The Testimony of multitudes of saints in the Canon of Scripture, and in Church History.
2.) The easily available original and translated Texts of Scripture, with massive amounts of indexed and referenced study aids.
3.) The published discernments of thousands of Christian academics and Church leaders.

Jesus Did Not Reveal Himself Through Chatting.
Matthew 12:36 KJV says, "But I [Jesus] say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement."
Proverbs 10:19 KJV says, "In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin; but he that refraineth his lips is wise."
Titus Ch. 2 KJV specifies that "Old men," "Older women," "Young women," and "Young men" all be "sober."
I Peter 4:11a KJV says, "If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God."

Can a Baptist agree with this?
I ran across this blog entry by an Eastern Orthodox young man...How would you respond if he told you this...
Theologically, I won’t touch on everything. But... the lyrics of the popular Protestant hymn, “In Christ Alone,” which everyone sung at one point in the ceremony. A song I loved, and love, but not exactly as I did....So I sang, and was one voice among many....But then came one point where I could not sing. As I stopped and yielded to everyone around me…. “on that cross where Jesus... -
Paying off debts & working on sundays
Was listening to a GREAT sermon by Dr. Stanley today as I was exercising. Dr. Stanley definitely confronted those that think working on sundays on a regular basis and paying off debts are more important that tithing and worshipping the Lord have got their priorities completely backwards. Sadly there are many these days that disagree with this. The concept of the tithe seems to be a debatable subject among Christians so I am making the assumption that the tithe is a part of the NT teachings. -

Calvinism Poll #2 = More options!
I though we would try this again with more options regarding BB users views on the Soteriology aspects of Calvinism.
(You may only pick one option)
For the record:
T = Total Depravity (Inablity to chose God without H.S. enabling)
U = Unconditional Election
L = Limited Atonement
I = Irresistable Grace
P = Perserverance of the Saints (Eternal Security) -
Why would anybody want to be a Calvinist?
I am a generally happy person that is easy to get along with. I dont have any issues in my life with anyone.
And before I cam to the BB, I had no issues with Calvinist. I dont believe in Dog, but I never looked down upon or ridiculed those that did.
As soon as i got on the BB, the Dogs started feeling me out to see where I stand on the issue. When I stated my objections, (nicely I might add), I was told by one of the VERY outspoken Dog brothers that I was ignorant. I argued that... -
Are You a Calvinist or a Non-Cal?
Pretty simple question. Do you identify yourself as a Calvinist or a non-Calvinist?
No hedging or defining it. No "I'm a four-pointer" or "I prefer to be called Reformed".
Yes or No.
